Do squirrels bite?
Yes, squirrels can and do bite if they feel threatened particularly during the spring and summer time when they are with their young.
A squirrel can inflict a very nasty bite, usually made worse by the automatic reaction of the victim to draw away, thus tearing the flesh.
It is sensible to wear thick leather falconry gauntlets if handling red or grey squirrels, but gardening gloves are also suitable for handling red squirrels as they are considerably smaller.
